Rural Romania

Photographer Alex Robciuc traveled to remote villages in the Transylvanian Alps of Romania to capture the lives of local villagers. Their way of life is a traditional one, shunning much of modern technology and featuring local traditions and clothing that have been handed down through generations.

The men above have decked out their horses for a wedding.

Horses transport goods instead of cars or fancy machinery.

A local boy in traditional dress. Note the wonderful collar embroidery and lace, and the jacket tassels!

A bride in traditional clothing and adornment.

I sometimes wish we could wear more of the outfits of the past, and strip away unnecessary technology so that we better connect with our families and friends. What do you think?

See more pictures and read more about the villagers here!
