Photos from How to Be a Retronaut

How to Be a Retronaut
features a varied and wide-ranging selection of color and black & white vintage photographs and videos from around the world (although many are from the United Kingdom).

These autochromes of Peace Day in 1919, King Edward VII (one of the last photos taken before his death), and the Pool of London especially caught my eye. It's fun to compare places and clothing styles I've seen in person with how they used to be. (I have to say, thankfully the Thames is a lot cleaner now!)

Bathing Beauties

I'm a fan of all things vintage and retro, so of course I love these colorful bathing suits from LA Drama Queen.

The "Absinthe" suit has simple and classic lines, but adds to the vintage feel with a charming bit of lace accented with a bow. The "Scrunchkini" is playful and bright with its polka dot pattern, but can be cinched to change the look from more vintage to more modern (and back again!).

Vintage Colors and Shapes

I loved this collection of vintage advertisements, so I decided to pull out the colors from my favorite image to create a color palette.

Hope it inspires you!

(If it does, I'd love to see what you made!)
