Color Photos of London During the Blitz

These never-before-seen color images of the damage caused by the Blitz in London have been released in honor of the 70th anniversary of V-Day in Britain.

It's incredible to see the aftermath of the bombings - it's amazing how one building could be completely destroyed but the one next to it could be untouched. What a scary time for London's citizens!

Thankfully, the city has since been rebuilt (although you can still see shell marks on many buildings that survived).

Vintage Poster Tees

I'm currently lusting after these vintage-inspired tees by Zen Threads. I just can't resist anything featuring a WPA or WWII poster!

The best part of this shop is the wide variety of fabric and ink colors, so you can customize your shirt when you order.

On a slightly-related note, I'm so sorry about the lack of updates lately! My pup still isn't back to her normal, hyperactive self. I'll try to post when I can!

DDay in Photos

To commemorate the 66th anniversary of the June 6, 1994 invasion, the Boston Globe's Big Picture put together a "Remembering DDay" collection.

These photos are so moving, and you can't help but be in awe of the massive scale of the operation and the bravery of the men who risked (and sometimes lost) everything for their country.

Scenes from a Movie

These World War II forts are so strange-looking! They're like something out of Star Wars or a science fiction novel.

These fortified towers were constructed in the estuaries of the Thames and Mersey rivers to help protect the United Kingdom from enemy attacks during the war. Since then, they have been abandoned by the military and used for various purposes. One is even a sovereign state - the micronation of Sealand!
