Screenprints from Sheepshead Designs

These screenprints by Brooklyn-based Sheepshead Design have such wonderful colors. The muted tones of the non-traditional color combinations are so lovely.

Illustrations by TwoEms

Thanks to Etsy's front page, I discovered a great new shop this morning! TwoEms (cleverly named after her initials) creates playful prints filled with bright colors and charming textures. The Big Ben one is my favorite - I love how the details and windows are slightly off-kilter, and the helicopter overhead!

Lotta Nieminen's Illustrations

After a Tax Day-related delay (okay, so I may have procrastinated on doing them...), I'm back with some lovely illustrations for you by Lotta Nieminen!

I love her use of slightly muted but still bold colors, vintage-looking textures, and unexpected details (like the overlaid patterns on the little birds).

I can't wait to see what she creates next!

Visit her portfolio here.

Photography by Sican

Intensely-colored, light- and shadow-filled photo prints from Sican. The silhouette of Big Ben rising over the River Thames makes me miss London!

Palette Inspiration

I used this lovely photograph of strawberry and vanilla bean macarons from the baking and food blog Cannelle et Vanille as inspiration for a palette. Feel free to use these hues in your creations - I hope they inspire you as well!

Painted Life

Janet Hill creates these light-hearted, colorful prints from her original oil paintings. Most of her work features light-filled, cozy interiors; whimsical and beautiful dresses; or good-enough-to-eat, frosting-piled cakes.

The top print here, Chloe's Vanity Table, is my favorite. When I first found the print, it looked so life-like I mistook it for a photograph. The strands of pearls and jeweled earrings are so realistic!

For the Birds

Just wanted to share this graphic print I came across on Etsy. It's lovely, whimsical, and colorful all at once! This would be a great way to brighten up a wall or add a pop of color to a neutrals-filled room. (From Blackoutwell's shop.)

Whimsical Imaginations

This painting reminds me of a more whimsical Norman Rockwell painting. The little kid's helmet is a great touch, and I love how the bright red contrasts with the cream and pale green.

Friday Smiles

I've decided to make the last weekday "Friday Smiles" from now on! I'll be posting links, photos, and other things meant to bring a smile to your face after a long work week!

For my first "Smiles" post, here's an adorable comic from Kawaii Not. The look on the muffin's face in the last frame is just too cute. (Sorry, Cupcake, you had it coming!)

Green and Crimson

The colors in this photo by Ciseren are so vibrant, I just had to share. Bright green is one of my favorite colors, and it really pops next to the scarlet tones in her lips and the whiteness of her skin and the magazine pages.
