The Cows Came Home

Seeing this "The Cows Came Home" painting by Elizabeth Pollie reminded me that the farmers' markets will be starting up again here in about a month. I can't wait to come home with a (reusable, have to be green at the market!) shopping bag full of bright spring greens tucked under my arm.

If I'm lucky, there'll be tiny, bright red wild strawberries in wooden punnet baskets that will be perfect for breakfast the next day. (If they last that long...)

Paintings by Kathy Weber

I recently discovered the talented Kathy Weber, and now I can't get enough of her wonderful flower- and nature-themed paintings! I like her bold brushstrokes - they still have a lovely softness to them.

From top to bottom, these three are titled "Fields in Flower", "Wickford", and "The Rose Arbor".

See more of her work here!

Autumn Depicted By Winslow Homer

How perfectly-autumnal is this painting, For to Be a Farmer's Boy, by Winslow Homer? It's just so appropriate for a peak-foliage, crisp October day like this one!

Incredible Paintings by Leah Giberson

When I first saw Leah Giberson's paintings, I couldn't believe they weren't photographs. The amount of detail is incredible!

I'm especially amazed by how realistically she paints reflections. It's so hard to believe the trailers and windows are only paint and not actually metal or glass!

See more of her prints and paintings for yourself here.

Albert Moulton Foweraker

I discovered the watercolor artist Albert Moulton Foweraker just this week, and had to share! He was a prolific Impressionist-style painter, recreating many scenes from England, Spain, France, and North Africa.

Foweraker was especially famous for his use of blue, displayed best in his moonlight works (such as the first and last scenes above). You can see more of his paintings here!

What do you think of his work?

Shades of Blue

Lovely paintings in shades of my favorite color, blue, by talented Etsy artist Groundwork.

(From top to bottom: A Grand Discovery, In Passing, and Campfire.)

Banksy

If you've ever been to London, you might have come across works by the graffiti artist Banksy around the city. The photo above is my favorite piece of his!

Now you can go on a self-guided tour of his remaining stencils with this map. What a great idea!

The Red, Red Robin

I'm eagerly awaiting the return of these bright-breasted birds, captured so beautifully in these oil paintings by Vitec Art.

Hope you're having a warmer, less snowy weekend than we are here in MA!

Painted Life

Janet Hill creates these light-hearted, colorful prints from her original oil paintings. Most of her work features light-filled, cozy interiors; whimsical and beautiful dresses; or good-enough-to-eat, frosting-piled cakes.

The top print here, Chloe's Vanity Table, is my favorite. When I first found the print, it looked so life-like I mistook it for a photograph. The strands of pearls and jeweled earrings are so realistic!

Whimsical Imaginations

This painting reminds me of a more whimsical Norman Rockwell painting. The little kid's helmet is a great touch, and I love how the bright red contrasts with the cream and pale green.
