Fall and Thanksgiving Tidbits

I thought I'd show you some fall and seasonal things I've been pinning on my Pinterest page! Just click on the pins to go to the page. First up is a brand-new print from my store - "Two Wise Old Owls"! It's listed in red, but I can also custom color it. You can find it and other brand-new prints here.

Next is this lovely brown paper table runner from Pottery Barn Kids. It looks perfect for keeping little ones occupied while Thanksgiving dinner is being made! You could even have them color or paint it in the morning and then use it for the Thanksgiving table later. That way, they'll feel like they've contributed to the meal and holiday as well!

These free printable veggie prints from Just Something I Made would make great Thanksgiving invites or place cards. You could leave them black and white or overlay them with vibrant colors. They'd make a great, fresh addition to the table.

Last is this paper tutorial from Better Homes and Gardens. While they turned these into flowers, I think they'd make great Tom Turkey tails instead. Then you could just add a big pom pom for the body, a smaller one for the head, a red yarn or felt wattle, and either googly eyes or painted-on ones. You could then scatter them down the middle of the table, or put one at every table setting. Simple and seasonal!

Please follow me on Pinterest if you like what you see : ) . I post lots of DIY ideas and I always love to see what my readers are pinning as well!

Getaway

Over the long weekend, we recharged our batteries here. There's something about a dock - it's just the perfect spot for putting everything into perspective, allowing you to make decisions about your life because things just seem that much less stressful with this peaceful view.

Running a business can be so overwhelming at times - all the different roles weighing down on your shoulders, never knowing if your next move is the exact right one, wondering if it's worth all the long hours or if you should just move on. That's not the part you hear about so much. People think if you work for yourself, it's a cakewalk. I wish!

I'm contemplating a lot of things lately. I'm planning my next move. I'm not sure what's around the bend just yet.

A Surprise Bloom

We've finally settled in after moving house (for me, it was the second move in less than 3 months!). The new neighborhood is full of greenery, a welcome departure from the concrete-heavy one we were in before.

I wandered across this magnolia tree earlier this week. I did a double-take when I noticed it was in full bloom - in September! It must be in front of a dryer vent or have its roots wrapped around a hot water pipe.

I've seen a lot of almond and cherry trees in full bloom in the city in the middle of winter because of the aforementioned phenomenons, but I've never seen a magnolia before. I couldn't resist cutting off a blossom to bring inside. I'm waiting for it to open and gently perfume the room. I can't wait!

In other news, I have two new DIY projects in the works (painted feather jewelry and pumpkin lanterns) that will be posted within the next week to week-and-a-half, and an announcement about my shop (hint: a special sale just for my readers!) that will be in my next post. Keep an eye out!

Copyright Infringement!

It's always disappointing when you find someone copying your work. I know "Keep Calm and Carry On" parodies are popular, but some people just don't realize that the original poster is in the public domain, not someone's parody! You can't make your own version of someone else's riff on it.

I was very upset to come across this shirt and print which copy my "Keep Calm and Grow a Mustache" prints (above) and t-shirts. As I came up with the phrase myself, I own the copyright. If you could email them and please ask them to take it down (I've already done so, but oftentimes people refuse to comply), I would really appreciate it! Going after copyright infringers unfortunately runs up very expensive legal bills, so lawyers have to be a last resort.

Thank you guys in advance!

I Believe in Pink - Audrey Hepburn Quote in Script

I've added a new version of my popular print, "I Believe in Pink" to my shop! Instead of a serif font, this one features elegant script lettering.

The lovely quote by Audrey Hepburn reads:

"I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing
is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when
everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the
prettiest girls. I believe that
tomorrow is another day and
I believe in miracles."

New Print

One of the new prints in my shop! For this, I reworked an old print that needed freshening up. I made the notes heart-shaped (to represent a love song), and brightened up the colors.

A version with chocolate brown notes is also available.

New Colors of my "I Believe in Pink" Audrey Hepburn Quote Print!

My limited edition print "I Believe in Pink - Audrey Hepburn Quote" is one of my most popular pieces, so I decided to introduce new color choices! The print is now available in bright pink, cyan and bright pink, and black and bright pink. (Low-res versions shown, the prints themselves are perfectly crisp!)

Keep Calm and Think Like Harry

Just wanted to post a low-res version of one of my new prints! It parodies two great British institutions - the "Keep Calm and Carry On" print, and the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling!

In times of trouble, Harry always remains calm and finds a way to save the day. So, it seemed like a natural fit to make a "Keep Calm" print about his bravery and wisdom. He always knows just what to do - an admirable trait, and one to aspire to.

The quote is accented with a zigzag, resembling Harry's famous scar. Right now I just have a red version up, but I'm planning on adding more colors soon. And another Harry parody!

Wander

Just wanted to share one of my favorite images from my store. I took it in Kew Gardens, while I was in London. It was such a beautiful spring day. The magnolias in the grove were abloom with huge, creamy petals, and the little girls wandering among the trees were perfectly silhouetted by the late afternoon sun. They inspired this image - and its title!

Spring is Here

Just wanted to share this new image. Spring is definitely here, and these dark pink ranunculus are one of its earliest signs! I've titled this one "Spring Unfurled".

Available in my shop!

New Prints

I've always loved quotations. I admire people who can inspire and motivate others with just a few words or sentences.

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" is also my favorite rainy/bad day movie. Holly Golightly is so glamorous, yet still fragile and naive. Audrey Hepburn is so memorable in this role.

Inspired by these two things, I created this print of an Audrey Hepburn quote. It reads:

"I believe in pink. I believe that loving is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."
