Holiday Paper Flowers for Sephora

These white gardenias, poinsettias, holly leaves, and snowflakes created by Antlre Inc. for installation in Sephora stores are seriously inspiring me this holiday season!

I'm itching to create my own poinsettias, mistletoe balls, and icicles out of white or iridiscent paper and deck the halls (and every other surface) with them.

See more from their install here.

How are you decorating for the holidays?

Book Sculptures by Su Blackwell

These intricate book sculptures by Su Blackwell are like something out of a fairytale! They're made out of old books, carefully cut up and rearranged.

She best describes the themes herself, in her profile on her website:

"For the cut-out illustrations, I tend to lean towards young-girl characters, placing them in haunting, fragile settings, expressing the vulnerability of childhood, while also conveying a sense of childhood anxiety and wonder. There is a quiet melancholy in the work, depicted in the material used, and choice of subtle colour."

Birds of Paper

This week is (unintentionally) turning out to be for the birds!

As soon as I spotted these delicate, detailed paper bird sculptures on The Daily Smudge, I knew I had to check out Anna Wili-Highfield's site to see more. Most her pieces are avian-themed, but she has also created horses (and a lone turtle)!

The crow would be perfect for Halloween decorating, don't you think?

Benja Harney

I'm completely floored by the work of Benja Harney. Though it looks easy here, I can't imagine all the cutting, folding, and infinite patience required to make such beautiful 3D structures out of simple pieces of paper.

I also want one of those crowns asap - so much more sophisticated than a free Burger King or plastic princess one, wouldn't you say?

Pretty Paper Flowers

This elegant diy paper flower bouquet is featured on Project Wedding.

Though it's originally meant for a bride, I think it would also make a lovely, long-lasting arrangement for a foyer or dining room table. You could also use the flowers to make a garland, and string it across a room or tree as a reusable party decoration!

Paper Arts

I'm always amazed by the versatility of paper, and at the skill of artists who transform it and make it look like fabric, leaves, or petals.

Some of my favorite paper art pieces from Etsy are: Red Blooming Pop-Up Card by CrankBunny, paper circus with dancing hares by Under the Stairs Studios, and Origami Maple Leaves by Melker.

Afternoon Tea

It's a chilly, early fall day here - perfect weather for curling up with a cup of hot tea. Here's everything you need to throw your own tea party, even if it's just for one! (The "Royaltea" bags and the beautiful peacock place cards are my favorites.)

Not Your Ordinary Paper Art

Helen Musselwhite constructs these beautiful illustrations out of paper. She carefully cuts out different shapes and elements, and then folds and layers them to create 3D images. She must have really steady hands! Here are three of my favorite pieces she's crafted.
